•  Friday, September 2nd is a free dress day. Please check your handbooks for dress code on this day.
• Monday, September 5th is Labor Day and a school holiday—wow, already!
• Tuesday, September 6th is the first soccer game of the season and it is being played here at Coleman Park against Lighthouse Christian from Canton. Come on out and support our Warriors. Concessions could possibly be open so bring your pennies….game time is 4:30. If not, come prepared with water bottles.
• Students may wear regular uniforms on Tuesday, Sept. 6th. Chapel is being postponed for a few weeks due to the air conditioning situation in the sanctuary. We will let you know so you can come join us for worship. This is a fun and exciting time for the students. Mrs. Dooley does a wonderful job getting us motivated!
• Remember students are only allowed to wear the warrior tshirts during the week except chapel days, and spirit days will begin soon. Students really look forward to those days. Conservative knee socks and leggings (solid colors–red, navy, black, white, cream, off-white, brown, and hunter green are to be worn this year. Please save special “cool” socks and leggings for free dress day.
• The Rodeo Monogram Shop is still taking orders for the warrior tshirts. Please be sure to get your order in for short and long t’s as well as any jackets that need monogramming for fall. Hopefully it won’t be long before we need these….:) The order will probably go out this week. Please check with them.
• Please remember to pull through the ROC parking lot and wait your turn to cross under the portico at the treehouse. You can drop off from 7:35 to 8:05 by pulling through. If you drop off any earlier the early morning room is not open until 7:35 and Weekday is allowed to park under portico until 7:30 and after 8:05 to unload their babies. So try to pull through during those times. If the cone is out at the end of the hall this means all students are to report to the Early Morning Room at the top of the 3rd floor stairs each morning. I will release at 8:00 to classes. Students are tardy after 8:05.

UPDATE 12:11PM:
Parents of 5th and 6th graders:

Coach West is having soccer practice today (Tuesday) and tomorrow of this week. No practice or game on Thursday or Friday of this week. The other team did not make and I can not get another team booked. So, our first official game will be Thursday, September 8th against ETCA. I will send an official schedule as soon as I get more games booked. Please bear with me, as I am trying my best to get all of this figured out. Next week’s practice schedule has not been set by Coach West yet.
The official attire of practice is red shirt, blue shorts, shin guards, water bottle.
Practice will be from 4:10 until 5:30 this week at St. John’s.********

I do not have an official roster of student’s playing. If your child is playing please contact me so I can get a sports agreement to you and the fee for playing if $50 for each sport this year. Signed contracts must be in before the student can ride the bus…..If your child has not been practicing they still can play…the more the merrier. We will play teams in Tyler, Canton, and one in Nacogdoches.

If you have gone by and ordered Warrior tshirts, they are now offering a navy blue pullover hoodie with the Warrior screen print too. Call and they can add to your order or if you haven’t ordered, please go by there and get your order in. The hoodie will probably be around $15 or so. Students will only be able to wear this hoodie or previous basketball or warriors ones in circulation. Students will not be allowed to wear their own hoodies except for free dress days. This year jackets will need to be navy blue with the school monogram. Personal heavy coats will be allowed in the winter. Red polo with monogram required for chapel. Please check the dress code requirements on our website. www.athensca.org.

Parents,

The Rodeo Monogram Shop (behind Benson’s) should begin taking orders tomorrow (Wednesday) for Warrior tshirts. These will be able to be worn any day but chapel or special occasions. They should have long and short sleeves. I suggest you order both because this could be the only order they have for the year. Please remember we do have a Used Uniform Committee and Misty Rogers has tons of uniforms available and also jackets. So, please give her a call at 903-477-7769 if you are in need of monogrammed shirts, warrior tshirts, jackets, etc. She can set you up and it is an awesome deal!

Also, if you will please add a ream of colored card stock to your school supplies, the school desperately needs some and we are totally out. Bright colors if possible. They do not have to bring this the first day, but we are in need of card stock.

Those of you having 5th and 6th graders this year, soccer practice is in session. Students are welcome to play. The 7th and 8th graders from Athens Prep will be joining us this year in our league. As soon as our coach lets us know his practice schedule, I will let you know what time. This week they are practicing from 4:30 to 6:00 at St. John’s Lutheran Church’s soccer field.

Don’t forget Parent Orientation on Monday night at 6 P.M. in the classrooms, (Monday, August 29th). School begins on Tuesday morning at 8 A.M. Students will just wear regular uniforms the first day of school. No chapel on this day.

I talked to the Monogram Shop today and they will be offering the warrior tshirts.
Please go by there to order. They will not place the order until they have enough for
a bulk order which is usually 50 to 100. This is a shirt they can wear everyday but on
chapel day. We may have them offer hoodies as well.

All hoodies worn on campus this year must be ACA hoodies.This includes basketball hoodies that were previously worn last year. Your own will not be allowed
to be worn this year.

An obvious change is the new web site layout.  Over the last couple months, a completely new platform has been created and setup to make the whole experience much more informative and easy to use.  It also came with some new features such as a section for creating posts (this page) and another area showing our Twitter feed (bottom-right).  We encourage you to follow us on Twitter and use this to keep up with schedule info and any changes that come up.

And everyone loves pictures – we sure do.  So this site allows for easier publishing of pictures and other images of life at ACA.  Throughout the year expect to see more updates in this area, much more often.
